Engineering and Execution Under One Roof
Most engineering firms design on paper and hand it off. Most contractors build from whatever drawings they're given. The gap between the two is where projects run into trouble — miscommunication, rework, change orders, and delays that nobody budgeted for. AMP Engineering's design-build service eliminates that gap. With Tony Pascoal Jr. bringing almost 20 years of hands-on construction, mining, and engineering field experience, and Tony Pascoal Sr. providing 45+ years of licensed professional engineering, we can carry a project from concept through engineering design and into construction management as a single, coordinated team.
Design-build makes sense when the project is complex enough that separating design from construction creates risk. Custom waterfront structures, heritage renovations, challenging site conditions, blast-and-build sequences — these are projects where the engineer needs to understand what happens on the ground, and the construction team needs to understand the engineering intent. That's how we work. The same people who design the structure are involved in building it, which means fewer surprises and faster problem-solving when conditions on site don't match assumptions.
An important distinction: AMP Engineering also provides design-only services for every project type we handle. Not every project needs design-build, and we're straightforward about that. If you have a capable contractor and just need engineering drawings, that's a perfectly good arrangement and we're happy to provide it. Design-build is for projects where integrating the two delivers a better outcome — and we'll tell you honestly which approach fits your situation.
What This Includes
Integrated Project Scoping
Combined engineering and construction assessment of your project from day one — identifying challenges, sequencing, and cost drivers before design begins.
Engineering Design
Complete structural engineering including calculations, stamped drawings, and specifications — designed with constructability in mind from the start.
Construction Management
On-site coordination, trade scheduling, quality control, and day-to-day management of construction activities aligned with the engineering design.
Permit & Regulatory Coordination
Handling all permit applications, municipal submissions, and regulatory requirements as a single point of contact — no back-and-forth between separate firms.
Budget & Schedule Control
Realistic cost estimation informed by actual construction experience, with ongoing budget tracking and schedule management through completion.
Field Problem-Solving
When site conditions don't match assumptions — and they often don't — engineering revisions happen immediately, on site, without waiting for a separate firm to respond.
